Epoka University students get to know America

On February 4th, a group of students and their professor from Epoka University in Tirana visited the U.S. Embassy. This group of students represents the International Relations Club of their school which was established in 2013. The International Relations Club’s purpose is to encourage and promote intellectual and cultural interaction among its members and to enhance the awareness among students regarding the current international issues. The students visited the Information Resource Center where they met with a few officers of the Embassy. IRC Director Matilda Vangjeli talked to them about American Corners in Albania, their resources, as well as promoted one the greatest online source of information, eLibraryUSA. The Assistant Public Affairs Officer, Brian Street told them about how his career with the State Department started and how he enjoys working in Albania. Brian also talked to them about the educational opportunities and the exchange programs available to them. Andrea Wells, one of our officers at the Regional Security Office talked about her professional life with the State Department and how different it is serving in various countries and getting new experiences. She explained the difficulties of working in a hardship post and also how much it helps one to grow personally and professionally. Andrea answered a lot of questions from the very inquiring students regarding her career, her studies and how they helped her be in this position today. The students ended their visit with the traditional photo at the stairs of the embassy.
